All is set for the celebration of this year's National Festival of Arts and Culture (NAFAC) at Koforidua in the Eastern Region.
The 58-year old festival is expected to bring chiefs and people from all parts of the country to showcase their achievements and potentials.
The uniqueness of this year's NAFAC is that, for the first time, it would give opportunity to the newly created six regions of the country to demonstrate to the rest of the country that they have arrived.
This year's festival would start tomorrow, Friday November 8, and end on Friday November 15. The festival would be organized under the theme, "Empowering the youth through culture, tourism and the creative arts for employment and wealth creation".
In an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA), the Eastern Regional Director of the Centre for National Culture (CNC), Mr Stephen Sedofu, said the President would officially open the festival on Saturday, November 9.
He said on Monday, November 11, there would be a colloquium on the theme of the festival at the Koforidua Technical University. Mr Sedofu said each region participating in the festival would have a stand for exhibition.
Mr Sedofu said a group of regions would be assigned a day to perform as part of activities marking the festival.
On their assigned day, the regional ministers of those regions would make a presentation on the potentials of their regions, their achievements and investment opportunities.
During the presentation, the Regional Presidents of the Regional Houses of Chiefs would chair the function.
He said in the evenings of the festival, there would be a concert party and musical shows at the theatre of the Regional Centre for National Culture.
Mr Sedofu said the festival would be devoted to the revival of traditional games like oware, draft, ampey and others.
The festival would also give opportunity to participants to shop for high quality beads at the biggest beads market in West Africa, which would be sited at the grounds for the festival.
