A total of eighteen National Democratic Congress (NDC) aspirants out of an initial number of twenty five people who picked nomination forms have successfully filed their nominations.
The Regional secretary, Mr Ofori Danquah who made this known to the GNA in Sefwi Waiwso, said two people including the incumbent Member of Parliament Mr Heditor Alexander filed to contest the Suaman Constituency primaries, while four others including the current Member of Parliament also filed to contest in the Aowin Constituency .
He said three people including the former Member of Parliament for Sefwi Waiwso, Mr Paul Evans Aidoo, picked forms to contest for the Sefwi Waiwso Constituency, while the current Member of Parliament for Bia West Dr Augustine Tawiaah would battle it with Mr Mustapha Amadu Tanko.
According to him, Mr Kwabena Mintah Akando would also sort it out with two other people for the Juabeso Constituency.
Mr Danquah said the Member of Parliament for Sefwi Bodi, Mr Sampson Ahi and Mr Richard Acheampnog of Bia East would go unopposed as people who picked forms from the two constituencies failed to submit their nomination forms as at 1700hrs on Friday.
He said the primaries in Bibiani Anwhiaso Bekwai Constituency have been put on hold pending directives from the National Executives.
Mr Herod Cobbinah, a former Member of Parliament for Sefwi Akontombra who contested the 2016 election as an independent candidate wanted to stage a comeback but could not submit his forms before the close of nominations.
Mr Cobbinah told the Ghana News Agency that he pulled out of the contest because he wanted to reorganize the Party at the grassroot level since according to him, the grassroot of the Party was weak and called on his supporters to assist him in that regard.
The Western North Region is a strong hold of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) as the Party occupies six out of the nine constituencies that form the Western North Region.
