The tree-planting exercise by cadres and sympathisers of the revolution started the 40th anniversary celebrations of the June 4 uprising
Also planned for the celebrations will be a lecture on May 29 to be followed by a durbar to climax the celebrations on June 4, 2019 at the Nungua Traditional Authority Park.

This year’s celebration is on the theme, ‘Developing a national character for sustainable good governance’.

First tree

The former President who planted the first tree, urged Ghanaians to plant the theme of the celebrations - Developing a national character for sustainable good governance – in their hearts.

“Ladies and gentlemen, as we commemorate this historic event, with a tree planting exercise I sincerely pray that the theme for this event will also be planted in our hearts,” the former President stated, before departing for Ho in the Volta Region to attend the funeral of Steve Akorli, a former Minister of Roads and Transport under the NDC.

Present at the exercise included Chairman of the NDC, Samuel Ofosu Ampofo, Chairman of Zoomlion, Joseph Siaw Agyepong, the Member of Parliament for Wa Central, Rashid Pelpuo, a former Minister of State, Samuel Nuamah Donkor, Bishop Clive Mould of the Action Chapel, a former NDC Deputy General Secretary, Koku Anyidoho, the Greater Accra NDC Chairman, Ade Coker, and a former MP, Amadu Sorogho.

Organised in conjunction with Zoomlion Ghana Limited, the Department of Parks and Gardens and the Forestry Commission, the exercise aimed to celebrate the environmental credentials of the leader of the uprising, Flt Lt Jerry John Rawlings.

Lecture

On May 29, the Amegashie Conference Hall of the University of Ghana Business School will host a lecture to be delivered by Professor John Bright Aheto, a renowned management expert. Professor Aheto is the immediate past Dean of the School of the School of Business at Central University College.
