Dr Hafiz Bin-Salih, the Upper West Regional Minister, has paid courtesy calls on traditional rulers to formally introduce himself as the new minister and also to ask for their support and blessings to steer the affairs of the region.
Dr Bin-Salih who called on Naa Alhaji Yusif Abubakari Wiah, Paramount Chief of Manwieh Traditional Area and Naa Seidu Nawologime IV, Paramount Chief of Bulenga Traditional Area urged the two rulers to always report criminals in the society to the police to help fight armed robbery and other crimes in the areas.
He said introduction of the Free Senior High School policy by the government was to educate all Ghanaian children of school going age and those less privileged in society to have access to education
He urged chiefs never to create room for politicians to discourage them over the free education policy because it stands to benefit everybody.
Naa Alhaji Yusif Abubakari Wiah, Chief of Manwieh expressed worry about lack of health professionals in the only health centre in their locality adding that nurses have not been posted there in a long while and the few ones have also been transferred.
"Please am appealing to you as the father of the region to facilitate the posting of nurses to our CHPS Compound to take care of us," he added.
