The Ashaiman Municipal Assembly (ASHMA) has launched its 10th year anniversary celebration scheduled for Saturday, March 9th in Ashaiman.
The launch was on the theme: ‘The new Ashaiman,10 years of transformation, ’ with the aim of creating awareness on the progress chalked by the Ashaiman Municipal Assembly so far.
Speaking at the short event to launch the anniversary, Mr Albert Boakye Okyere, Ashaiman Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) said, the Municipality had seen tremendous transformation since its establishment in February 2008.
“I am the first MCE and I am happy to be back to finish my unfinished business, ’ he noted.
The MCE revealed that the Ashaiman Municipality now had an estimated population of 300,000 with a growth rate of 4.6 per cent, a figure he said was higher than the national growth rate of 2.6 per cent.
Mr. Boakye Okyere added that averagely, 18 people moved to settle in Ashaiman daily due to the availability of modern social amenities and relatively low cost of living.
He stated that, the Municipality could boast of a state-of- the-art Youth Centre and an ultra-modern maternity ward at the Ashaiman Polyclinic,
Mr. Okeye called on the Youth and Sports ministry to consider constructing modern football pitches for the teeming sports loving youth in Ashaima.
Mr Ernest Norgbe, Member of Parliament for Ashaiman, told the media on the sidelines of the event that Ashaiman would soon become a city where everyone would love to move in and settle.
He noted that the good roads, schools, hospitals and markets among other social facilities would facilitate social and economic interaction as well as public safety.
