The Foundation was being built on the successes of the STAR-Ghana to chart a new course of social change and inclusiveness with civil society in ensuring a self reliant society.
According to her, the Foundation would collaborate with institutions and initiate moves to remove barriers to citizens' participation in active governance, advance access of individual and groups to develop opportunities for all.
It would also support civic education initiatives, using the media and public fora to engage the people and political parties on their roles in the political dispensation.
According to Nana asantewa Afadzinu, it remained focused on ensuring that women, men, girl and boys were empowered to ensure that their rights were not trampled upon but equally valued.
"Many citizens are trapped in an inter- generational cycle of poverty, disability and age because of where they live. The Foundation would ensure that every citizen has equal access to opportunities, resources, and services they need to reach their full potential," she stated.
She however, pointed out that, the Foundation was not in competition with other Non Governmental Organizations (NGOs), but rather support them in improving access to quality education, health care, empowerment among others.
Mr Kwamena Duncan, the Regional Minister, applauded STAR-Ghana for it tremendous work on citizens’ engagements in the democratization process.
He charged the Foundation not to renege on it mandate but constantly engage the citizens through their various platforms to bring democracy and local governance to the knees of the citizenry.
