Mr Ebenezer Kweku Tetteh Addo, a former Central Regional Minister, on Saturday defeated two other contestants to become the new Central Regional Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) for a four-year term.
Mr Addo polled 299 votes to beat Mr Krakrah Yalley, who obtained 256 votes, and Mr Aquinas Tawiah Quansah, the immediate past Central Regional Minister under the Mahama Administration, who had 157 votes.
The Vice Chairmanship position was won by Mr Theophilous Adu-Mensah, former District Chief Executive of Gomoa West, with 366 votes to beat five other contestants.
The five contestants were Mr Lawrence Lamptey, Staff of Ghana Highways Authority, had 80 votes, Mr Abeiku Aggrey, 51 votes, Daniel Darko, 45 votes, and Alfred Halm, 20 votes. For the Regional Secretary position, no winner was declared as Mr Kojo Quansah, former staff of GETFUND and Mr Nii Commey polled 238 votes apiece, whiles Mr Elvis Amosah, had five votes, Mr Ebo Crentsil, Agona West Municipal Director of Non-Formal Education, had 41 votes, and Henry Hayfron, former MCE for Mfantseman, obtained 191 votes.
Mr Kofi Martins polled 364 votes to win the Central Regional Deputy Secretary position, defeating Mr Eric Ofei, who had 342 votes. Mr Michael Dery, a Businessman, polled 474 votes to win the Central Regional Organiser position, defeating Mr Kofi Owusu, who obtained 233 votes.
The Deputy Regional Organiser position was won by Nana Kofi Osebi, who polled 129 votes to defeat seven other contestants. The Regional Treasurer was won by Mr Eric Essah with 476 votes and Madam Victoria Pobee Woode polled 245 votes to become the Deputy Treasurer.
Madam Faustina Nelson Lamptey won the Central Regional Women’s Organizer position with 42 votes as against the incumbent Madam Ekua Swanzy, who had 10 votes. Mr Kwesi Dawwod retained the seat as Central Regional Communication Officer who polled 313 votes to defeat Ambrose Eshia with 261 votes and Mr Ike Afenyi, securing 139 votes.
The Deputy Central Regional Communication position was won by Mr Lawrence Gharty with 379 votes, beating Mr Emmanuel Arkoh Yeboah, Assemblyman for Agona Kwanyako, who had 329 votes. Mr Otu Okunor, the National Research Director of the NDC, swore the newly elected regional officers into office and asked them to work hard to wrest power from the New Patriotic Party in 2020.
Mr E.K.T Addo, the Chairman, thanked the delegates for the confidence reposed in them and gave the assured that all those who contested would be brought on board to work in unity as there were no winners or losers.
