Mr Henry Nana Boakye, National Youth Organizer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has charged party members to do all they can to claim the Amasaman seat from the National Democratic Congress(NDC) in the 2020 elections.
He said the foremost challenge was to wrest the Amasaman seat from the NDC in 2020, adding that, the grounds were fertile for the NPP to grab the seat, and assured that, he would lead the youth in realising that target.
Mr Boakye made the appeal during the launch of the Amasaman Constituency Youth Wing in the Ga West Municipality. He said ahead of the NPP's National Youth Organizer contest, he promised to roll out the 'orphan constituency' project, which was to galvanize support for the party in 'orphan constituencies'.
"True to my promise, I have set out to strengthen the base of the party in the orphan constituencies". The launch of the Amasaman Constituency Youth Wing was one of the many programmes the National Youth Organiser would be spearheading, as part of the 'orphan constituency' project.
Mr Boakye said the NDC always had an upper hand in the Amasaman Constituency, however, the NPP made giant strides in the last elections by bridging the gap of over 11,000 in 2012 to about 120 votes in 2016.
Mr Boakye was optimistic that the seat and others across the country would be snatched from the NDC in 2020, through the effort of the Youth Wing and the party at the constituency level.
He commended the Amasaman Constituency Youth Organizer, Philip Asante and the entire Constituency Executive body, as well as Polling Station Executives, for their resolve to work assiduously to improve the electoral fortunes of the NPP in the constituency.
The launch was graced by Mr Divine Otoo Agorhom, Greater Accra Regional NPP Chairman; Lawyer John Kumah, Chief Executive Officer, National Entrepreneurship and Innovation Plan; Mr Kofi Ofosu Chief Executive Officer, Accra Digital Centre; Mr Clement Wilkinson, Ga West Municipal Chief Executive and Mr Achibald Cobbina, Greater Accra Regional National Disaster Management Organisation Director.
Also in attendance were the Amasaman Constituency Executives and Polling Station Executives, together with a host of Youth Organizers from other constituencies in Greater Accra Region.
