The National Democratic Congress (NDC), in the Bolgatanga Central Constituency of the Upper East Region on Saturday elected new officers to steer the affairs of the party towards the upcoming 2020 presidential and parliamentary elections.
The Bolgatanga NDC Central constituency is one of the constituencies in the country that could not organise their constituency elections, due to challenges.
After the resolution of those challenges the party decided to organise the Bolgatanga Constituency election on Friday which traveled into Saturday dawn.
George Aduko Ayanore, a retired engineer of the Ghana Water Company Limited, and former Presiding Member, won the chairmanship race with 485 votes.
He defeated four contestants, George Adabre, the incumbent Constituency Vice Chairman who ganered 382 votes, Joseph Gandaa, 88 votes, Harry Ayamga, the former Bolgatanga Municipal Chief Executive, 33 votes and Sylvester Orondo, a 75-year-old, 13 votes.
The delegates also elected Atanga Aduko as Vice Chairman, Roland Ayoo, as Secretary, Adongo Adombila, Deputy Secretary, Fuseini Ayaeh, Treasurer, Jonathan Alataaba, Deputy Treasurer and Martin Ayamga Aka-Eeri, Organiser.
The rest are Robert Asakinaba, Deputy Organiser; David Agorogo, Communications Officer; Aduko Asoneriba, Deputy Communications Officer; Shaibu Aminu, Zongo Caucus Coordinator; Prosper Amiyinne, Youth Organiser; Isaac Asore, Deputy Youth Organiser; Joyce Abolga, Women Organiser and Fouzia Nashiru, Deputy Women Organiser.
Mr Ayanore, who thanked the delegates for the confidence reposed in him, pledged to work hard with the other newly elected officers to mend the cracks within the party to enable it win both the parliamentary and presidential slots in the constituency.
He stated that under his tutelage he would ensure that the action plans that had already been developed by the party for the constituency including campaign rallies in all the zones are implemented in phases from now till 2020.
