Mr. James Asafo Akowuah, a tutor at the Manso-Adubia Senior High School (SHS), has been elected the new Constituency Chairman of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) for Manso-Nkwanta.
He polled 249 votes to beat two other contestants - the incumbent, Samuel Antwi Boasiako, who had 135 votes, and Newman Nkansah, 138 votes in an election supervised by the Electoral Commission (EC).
This was at the party’s constituency delegates’ congress held at Manso-Nkwanta, the constituency headquarters. Other elected officers are Samuel Owusu, first Vice Chairman, Anthony Amankwah, second Vice Chairman, Samuel Asare Brew, Secretary,
Owusu Mensah, Organizer, Ms. Tina Opoku Konadu, Women’s Organizer, Curtis Adu Agyemang, Youth Organizer, Mrs. Rose Adjei, Treasurer, and Abdul Malik Anokye, Nasara Coordinator.
In the Ejisu Constituency, Samuel Oduro Frimpong, a Chartered Accountant, was elected the Chairman, The other officials picked by the delegates to run the party are Kwame Bonsu, first Vice Chairman, Kwaku Ntim Twumasi, alias ‘NTK’, second Vice Chairman, Mathew Amoako, Secretary, George Appiah Kubi, Organizer, Ms. Mercy Serwaa, Treasurer, Henry Duah, Youth Organizer, Ms. Patience Boateng, Women’s Organizer, and Alhaji Kamal Deen, Nasara Coordinator.
The 500 delegates to the party’s Asante-Akim North congress unanimously renewed the mandate of the incumbent Chairman, Sampson Adjei. Owusu Nyantakyi was elected the first Vice Chairman and Agyemang Prempeh, second Vice Chairman. The rest are William Aboagye Boateng, Secretary, Frank Gyamfi, Organizer, Ms. Rose Ansah Bekoe, Women’s Organizer, Derrick Madiba Amoah, Youth Organizer, Hanson Obeng Gyimah, Treasurer, and Alhaji Issaka Sulemana, Nasara Coordinator.
Mr. Fredrick Fredua Anto, first National Vice Chairman of the party, who was present to observe things, applauded the delegates for the maturity and peaceful conduct of the election.
He urged them to continue to maintain a united front, remain loyal and work with renewed energy and commitment to grow the party and broaden its appeal to voters.
