He urged the people to stop rumour mongering and rather cross-check their facts about the Assembly and its activities rather than brainwash others with fabricated news to tarnish the image of the Municipality.

Mr. Essuman made the appeal when he delivered the Executive Committee Report of the Assembly at the Third Ordinary Meeting of the Second Session of the Seventh Assembly at Saltpond.

He said the Assembly was a public institution that worked in accordance with the L.I that established it, with the Model Standing Orders to better the lot of the people and to bring sanity to the area.

“The doors of the Assembly are open to receiving fruitful suggestions and ideas to administer its mandated task towards the total growth of Mfantseman,” he said.

According to Mr Essuman, the Assembly in collaboration with the Mfantseman Security Committee (MUSEC) had adopted short and long term measures to help curb the traffic menace in the area.

Some of the measures included prevention of traders from selling and hawking along the main highway, working on the bridge near the roundabout and part of the central business district of Mankessim, stopping of drivers from parking and loading at unauthorized places.

Mr. Essuman stated that necessary steps were being taken to refurbish the “Asabee Market” to enable all the market women and traders who invaded the roadside in the Central Business District of Mankessim to return to the market.

The Assembly will decongest the whole Mankessim area, added that long Vehicles including Articulators which parks along the shoulders of the road in the Central Business District of Mankessim had been banned with immediate effect and called on the Police to help to enforce such directives to help bring sanity to the area.

The MCE said construction of bus terminals at designated points along the road, construction of new lorry parks at Ansa-Boda and the proposed multipurpose entertainment ground site at Bosutwa to cater for drivers who plied Ajumako and Cape Coast as long term measures had been adopt by the MUSEC to help decongest the Area.

Mr. Essuman informed the House that, 19 schools in the Municipality out of 112 passed, one public and four private schools obtained zero percent and 46 public basic schools also scored below 60 percent in 2017 BECE which was not the best for the Municipality.

He said as part of measurers to improved BECE results of the non-performing school, the committee recommended that mass transfer of teachers and head teachers within the circuit level who have stayed at their posts for too long and were under performing.

The Municipal Education Oversight Committee as well as School Management Committee and Parent Teacher Associations would be revived to become functional, he added.
