The President's nominee for the District Chief Executive (DCE) position for the Wassa East District, Mr Wilson Arthur failed to secure the required two-third majority votes to confirm him as the District Chief Executive.
He polled 19 out of the 30 votes cast by the Assembly members with 11 of them voting against his nomination.
The development left supporters and sympathizers of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) disappointed and traded insults at the Member of Parliament, Mr Isaac Adjei Mensah who they alleged instigated the 11 perceived NDC members to vote against the President's nominee.
This accusation resulted into a confusion at the Assembly premises with the NPP supporters hooting and throwing objects at the NDC members forcing the police to call for re-enforcement to calm down tempers.
Mr Wilson Arthur Chief Executive Officer of Sky media group contested the Parliamentary seat in the 2016 election on the ticket of the NPP but lost.
The election was conducted and supervised by the Electoral Commission.
The Assembly is expected to sit in ten days for the second confirmation process.
Present at the event was the Deputy western regional Minister madam Gifty Kusi, Council of State member, madam Eunice Buah and Mr Isaac Adjei Mensah MP Wassa East.
