The Northern Regional Minister, Alhaji Abubakar Abdallah has declared that the National Democratic Congress (NDC) is working hard in the three Northern regions to ensure the New Patriotic Party (NPP) is marginalised in the 2016 elections.
“We shall show the NPP running mate Dr. Bawumia that he is an insignificant quantity in the politics of the North come December 7,” he stressed.
At the campaign launch of Mr. Mahama Ayariga, Minister of Environment, Science, Technology and Innovation at Bawku, he indicated that all people in the Northern and Upper East and West regions were one family and should continue to foster a common destiny which could be found in the NDC.
Speaking in Mampruli, the dialect of the Mamprusis, apparently directing his message to his compatriots in Bawku, he appealed for unity, pointing out that a house divided could never stand.
Mr. Musah Abdulai, former Municipal Chief Executive for Bawku and defeated candidate in the NDC primaries, who threatened to contest as an independent candidate in the upcoming elections, rescinded his decision and mounted the podium to declare his support for Mr. Ayariga.
Alhaji A. Diore, another aspirant, who lost to the incumbent, also pledged his support for Mr Ayariga, calling for unity of purpose to win the December polls hands down.
Alhaji Mumuni Bolnaba, Upper East Regional chairman of the NDC, who predicted that NDC would win all the 15 seats in the region however called for hard work including house to house campaigns.
