He added that “Ghana needs all the nurses and teachers we can get, if we are to build a solid healthcare and educational system”.

The NPP flagbearer announced this when he visited the Pantang Nursing Training School in the Madina Constituency on Tuesday, as part of his four-day tour of the Greater Accra Region.

Nana Akufo-Addo stressed that “Ghana is not a poor country. A land previously called Gold Coast cannot be poor. We are a nation with an abundance of human and natural resources, and, yet we are hungry”.

His running mate, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, who first addressed the students, said with just GHc 2  billion in revenues and without the benefit of oil revenues, the NPP was able to pay nursing trainee and teacher trainee allowances.

Dr Bawumia however childed the Mahama-led administration of having inherited an oil economy, and with GHc20 billion accrued in revenues, it canceled the teacher and nursing trainee allowances.

Dr. Bawumia, reassured them that first budget of an Akufo-Addo administration, should it be given the nod, would approve “the restoration of nursing trainee and teacher allowances in the budget”.

“We shall restore your allowances in full. It will not be a propaganda restoration, but a full restoration of your allowances.”

We have to change President Mahama for Ghana to move forward and achieve its true potential; Nana Akufo-Addo indicated that “we have one task only. We are going to change the government of  Mahama, and bring a government that is going to work for the people of Ghana, and make sure that we have our priorities right”.

He urged the nursing students to help take the NPP’s message of hope to every part of the constituency, and vote massively for the party’s parliamentary candidate for Madina, Alhaji Boniface Abubakar Saddique.
