Millicent Rockson of Accra the proud winner of a 2012 Honda City after garnering the most points in the first Airtel Deedew monthly promotion. Ms. Rockson who has previously won some weekly prizes beat off competition from Eric Mensah who came in second and won a trip for two to watch Arsenal FC play in addition to shopping in London. Osuman Mohammed and Musah Shaibu also won 12-month shopping vouchers each. Ninety-six other persons won Samsung mobile phones, Airtel modems and football Jerseys from Arsenal FC.
Chief Operating Officer of Airtel Ghana, Mrinal Roy said at a ceremony to present the prizes to winners that Airtel was excited by the response from its customer base towards the promotion. "We have said that our customers 'continuous usage of our products for their daily lives and being rewarded for the usage is what makes Deedew unique. One of our key drivers as a company is to be the most loved brand in the daily lives of our customers and believe that promotions such as Deedew, coupled with the continual improvements on our network and services delivers to our customers the sort of brand they want to be associated with", Mr. Roy said. Mr. Roy congratulated the winners and wished them the best ahead of the grand draw. He also announced that Airtel has incorporated daily prizes into the promotion where they reward customers who fall into the following categories: highest SMS user, highest data user, highest voice customer and highest Airtel Money user.
Senior Marketing Manager in charge of Acquisition of Airtel Ghana, Patrick Nathan Ofosu noted that customers' continuous usage on the network via voice calls, data, Airtel Money and various products help in positioning them for the ultimate prize. Mr. Ofosu said for "Deedew, we have enlisted the services of renowned auditors, KPMG to further give credence to our already known posture of fairness and transparency". He explained that Airtel selects winners whose regular usage on the network gets them points. Winners are determined via the accumulation of points. "If non-Airtel customers want to take part, all they need to do is simply buy Airtel SIM cards and activate to earn points. Customers can also earn points by recharging with either scratch cards or through Airtel Money /Pre-Tups to earn points. Points are accumulated via daily usage - Voice, Data, SMS, Airtel Money Transactions", he said. Mr. Ofosu added that customers can multiply their daily points by 5 when they meet their daily Obolobo 5X target.
Airtel's Deedew promotion has so far seen about 200 people winning various prizes. The promotion runs into March 2013.
