The Director of Bahass Foundation in the Upper West Region, Ilyasu Yussif Baba has on behalf of his Foundation taken delivery of a wide range of items from Airtel Ghana as part of the company's corporate social responsibility initiative, Touching Lives. The Foundation which is based in Wa fends for the mentally challenged by feeding, medicating and clothing them. The Foundation additionally undertakes educational campaigns on radio and in communities on how to treat the mentally challenged.
Making the presentation, Corporate Social Responsibility Manager of Airtel Ghana, Maame Dufie Cudjoe said Ilyasu Baba's story was one of the most inspiring ones when the Touching Lives crew investigated the thousands of entries that were received prior to screening. She said "Ilyasu portrayed a picture of dedication and commitment and a sense of empathy from one man to a fellow man; we got touched at his efforts at helping society albeit with very limited resources". According to the CSR Manager, one of the key reasons for Airtel Touching Lives was to spur Ghanaians into action into doing something for their society, "we found Ilyasu and the Bahass Foundation as true example of such drive", she said.
Ilyasu Yussif Baba said he was grateful for the support from Airtel Ghana. He said his support for fellow man was borne out of a natural desire to help his fellow man, and he was happy to have received the support of Airtel Ghana which he said will go a long way to make life easier for his team and the beneficiaries of the Foundation.
Airtel Ghana presented a cheque to the Foundation to enable them complete a feeding shelter, bath house as well as clothes and bowls and some money to feed the inmates. Airtel Ghana is also committed to offering Ilyasu Baba a scholarship to enter a nursing training college.
