The second annual CNBC Africa Ambassador's Cup was held at the Pecanwood
Golf and Country Club on Tuesday, 30 October. The esteemed Golf Challenge
saw 60 players participating, with some of the highest ranking diplomats,
as well as influential business men and women in Africa.
"The Ambassador's Cup is an annual event for CNBC Africa. With the company
rapidly expanding through the African continent, this event cements the
company's ties with the diplomatic and business community from various
African countries, making it a unique event in South Africa", said Founder
and Vice Chairman of the ABN Group, Rakesh Wahi.
The winners walked away with incredible prizes, this includes prizes
sponsored by BMW, Fossil, Lacoste and Morgenster. The Prize-giving dinner
hosted an auction which had raised a remarkable amount, all of which will
go to the ABN Education Trust Fund for Financial Journalists. The fund
looks at assisting previously disadvantaged students studying towards a
Financial Journalism tertiary education.
"CNBC Africa is the leading pan African business news channel covering 48
countries in sub-Saharan Africa, which this forms a perfect platform for
various ambassador's and business people to network", said the Business
Development Manager for the ABN Group, Ali Naka. "This further
demonstrates the channel's mission to report from 20 Countries by 2014",
he said.
The CNBC Africa Ambassador's Cup has again been endorsed by DIRCO and for
a second year is sponsored by ABB, amongst other corporate contributors.
