Eighteen assembly members in Atwima-Mponua who signed a petition for the removal of the District Chief Executive, Mrs Theresa Adomako-Tawiah, have said they would no longer press ahead with the "no-confidence vote."
They have consequently withdrawn the petition.
Mr Joseph Hamlet Osei, the Presiding Member, announced this to a thunderous applause at an emergency meeting of the assembly at Nyinahin to approve the annual estimates.
The 18, on November 10, signed a formal request to begin the process of "no-confidence vote" to oust the DCE.
This did not go down well with the youth in the area, who responded with a street demonstration to register their displeasure.
Mr Osei praised the group for the decision to enable the assembly to move forward in peace and unity.
The Local Government Act gives power to the assemblies to remove metropolitan, municipal and district chief executives with a two-thirds
majority vote.
Mrs Adomako thanked the 53-member assembly and pledged to continue to welcome constructive criticism and suggestions.
She called for a united front to increase the pace of development of the district.
