The Decision to Run for Parliamentary candidate
I hereby formally announce my candidature as NPP Parliamentary candidate - Hohoe North in the forthcoming parliamentary primaries.
I have come to this decision after consulting widely within the party and listening to the issues that concern our constituents. We are at a critical stage in the effort to consolidate democracy in Ghana. We are at a crucial stage in the real task of national development, the business of government. This period in the evolution of our great Party requires a truly broad based group, capable of reaching out to the thousands of Ghanaians living in Ghana and all over the world and providing the leadership, vision and direction that will allow us to contribute to the effort to address the major issues that confront our constituency and our country, Ghana.
Together, we can contribute significantly to consolidating our hard earned democracy and to achieving the plan as set out in our party’s manifesto, our testament to the people of Ghana.
The challenges we face call for a leadership that has the vision, purpose and dynamism to unite our party behind our common objectives. It calls for a leadership that will consolidate our position, grow our membership, and lead the debate on the issues that will redefine and reposition our country on the path of national development.
My objective is to work with the people of Hohoe North constituency and the local NPP executive to offer this leadership. My aim is to work with constituents to redefine and reshape our purpose and direction as a party and ultimately the destiny of our people. I want to work with all delegates and leadership of the NPP Hohoe North to ensure that we make tangible contributions to the efforts of our party to establish true democracy, and to chart a developmental path that will win our war against hunger, disease, and poverty for all Ghanaians and that will indeed be a true model for other developing countries. This is my life-long commitment to the NPP party. I am committed to this life time goal and will work assiduously to achieve it.
I have been a member of our party since its inception in 1992. I am committed to the vision of our founding fathers, the ideals of our great party, and the dream of bringing real positive change to all Ghanaians. These are the ideals I have worked for, and consistently championed over the last 25 years, from my formative years as a student leader, parliamentary (primaries) candidate and organising the Volta Region NPP to making significant in roads in the Region as exemplified in previous elections. Who says the Volta Region is a no-go area for the NPP? I hope everyone is thinking again. I have considerable experience in politics and management, and have demonstrable success, scholarship, leadership and interpersonal skills in a wide variety of roles.
I have the ability to offer the inspired organisational and leadership ability we now need and the values and qualities enshrined in teamwork and collaboration. These qualities will allow me to work with delegates, the NPP executive team and every constituent to build on the laudable work of the past leaders of the NPP in the constituency and take the party to a higher level.
This is a call to service and I am committed to the higher ideals required to lead the NPP to a remarkable victory in the constituency.
This election is about the future of our party. It is about the issues we face as a nation. I have set out below my vision for the next four years and how I will work to achieve this. I ask for your support, your vote to elect me as NPP Parliamentary candidate - Hohoe North which will give me the opportunity to work and work and work for you, our great party and our dear county, Ghana. The NPP will succeed. We will build our party from strength to strength. We will win this seat in 2012. I trust I will have your support.
Kukrudu! God bless the NPP God bless Ghana.
