In its quest to help create an enabling environment for effective learning and academic excellence in the country, telecom giant, Zain Ghana, has donated beautification and educational materials to the Air Force Crèche & Day Nursery at Burma Camp in Accra.
Included in the items were numerous lap desks imprinted with basic learning aids for early child development and several gallons of paint that will be used to beautify and give a complete facelift to the school.
Established in 1993, the Accra Air Force Crèche & Day Nursery school is made up of a Crèche and Day Nursery with a total population of 390 infants and pupils.
The donation forms part of Zain’s Build Our Nation initiative. Already, several educational institutions across the country have benefited from similar interventions ranging from donation of teaching and learning aids to reconstruction of educational facilities.
Zain’s Build Our Nation campaign is one of the major pillars of the company’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative instituted to lend support to the government in the development of education in Ghana.
So far, Zain, through the project, has built, renovated and equipped several less-endowed basic schools with books and other educational materials to boost the quality and standard of education across the country.
Under this initiative, the company collaborates with the Ministry of Education and other relevant institutions to access and identify the deprived schools for assistance. For instance, reading materials for donation are carefully selected based on the recommendations from the Ghana Education Service to ensure that they are in tune with the approved curriculum.
Carmen Bruce-Annan, Manager for Corporate Communications and External affairs commenting on the latest donation said “Zain believes in the role education plays in the development of an individual especially the young minds and the nation at large, hence the concerted effort to partner government in creating enabling conditions in our educational institutions for excellence to thriveâ€.
“We made a solemn promise since inception to help better the lots of the people and by extension, the communities in which we operate. This donation is yet another move in keeping and sustaining that promise†she stressed.
NB: Use the quote from the beneficiaries for a second release “highlighting their appreciation of Zain’s gestureâ€.
