The Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) has re-affirmed total support for the Metropolitan Chief Executive (MCE), Mr Samuel Sarpong and would want him retained by the President.
A press statement signed by the Presiding Member, Nana Owusu Peasah II, in Kumasi, gave the MCE high marks for his strong and effective leadership.
It said he had proven to be a capable leader and that the development achievements under his four-year watch had been phenomenal adding that he had supervised the implementation of about 171 projects in the areas of education, health, water and sanitation and these had brought tremendous improvement to the lives of the people.
The Assembly members, it said, are proud of the wonderful working relations they have with him.
In spite of several challenges and constraints, the MCE worked in close collaboration with the members and technocrats to achieve the overall objectives of the Assembly.
It described as untrue a recent publication in the media that there was tension in the Assembly.
"As a united Assembly with a common sense of purpose to pursue development policies for Kumasi, we will not sit down for faceless and self-centred individuals to create divisions and disaffection for our industrious MCE", the statement added.
