A Thai court on Thursday indicted leaders of the royalist "yellow shirt" movement for attacking and seizing government offices in 2008, local media reported.
The Bangkok Criminal Court indicted 10 leaders of the People's Alliance for Democracy (PAD), including publisher Sondhi Limthongkul and former Bangkok governor Chamlong Srimuang, for leading a siege of Parliament House in October 2008.
Ensuing clashes between protesters and authorities killed two and left scores injured.
The court also indicted Sondhi and Chamlong along with four others for seizing Government House in August the same year, effectively forcing the government to move its offices elsewhere for months.
The indictments had been postponed 15 times since 2008, the Bangkok Post reported.
PAD lawyer Suwat Apaipak said he would apply for bail for his clients.
The PAD held Government House hostage for four months in 2008 in its bid to oust the government led by the People's Power Party, which was loyal to former prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra.
Its protests culminated in the seizure of the capital's two international airports in November 2008, stranding tens of thousands of passengers and leading to billions of dollars in lost tourism and export revenues.
The Constitutional Court dissolved the People's Power Party soon after the airport seizure for electoral fraud in the 2007 general election.
