The Bibiani-Anhwiaso-Bekwai and Atwima-Mponua Districts have rejected 59,506 Ghana@ 50 Souvenir Cups sent to them last week.
Of the consignment, 36,674 cups were meant for Bibiani-Anhwiaso-Bekwai District and the remaining 22,832 cups for Atwima-Mponua District.
Mr. Moses Kofi Armah, District Chief Executive (DCE) for Bibiani-Anhwiaso-Bekwai, told GNA that he did not see the need for the souvenirs, two years after the celebration of Ghana's 50 years of
independence, for which they were produced.
He appealed to the Administrator of the District Assemblies Common Fund to refund GH¢¢24,465.23 it deducted from the assembly's share of the Common Fund to cover the cost of the Cups.
Mrs Theresa Adomako-Tawiah, DCE for Atwima-Mponua, was not present when the district's consignment was delivered, but, sources close to GNA said she ordered that it should be sent back.
She said the assembly would demand the payment of money deducted from its share of the Common Fund.
The rejected cups were being kept at the Bibiani Police station.
