A circuit court, in Dormaa Ahenkro, on Friday, remanded two brothers in custody for allegedly murdering a farmer at Maasu, a farming community near Dormaa Ahenkro.
Their pleas were not taken.
The court, presided over by Mr Justice Vincent Senu, ordered that Kwasi Nyamekye, a mason apprentice, be placed in police custody till August 25 this year while his brother Patrick Afranie, remained in prison custody till September 18.
Giving the facts of the case, Police Chief Inspector Matthew Yeboah told the court that Nyamekye and Kwame Yeboah (the deceased) had a verbal confrontation last Sunday over the alleged ill-treatment of the former's sister by the deceased.
They were separated by on-lookers and Yeboah left for home but Nyamekye and Afranie, armed with a knife, cutlass and a cudgel followed Yeboah to his house where Nyamekye stabbed him twice on the chest and abdomen.
Chief Inspector Yeboah said Afranie then clubbed the deceased on the head with the cudgel.
When a witness raised the alarm, the two took to their heels, boasting that they had extracted revenge for the deceased's cruelty to their sister, he added.
The prosecutor said Yeboah was pronounced dead upon arrival at the Presbyterian hospital in Dormaa Ahenkro and after the deceased's sister reported the case to the police the two brothers were apprehended and charged with the offence.
