The Suhum Magistrate Court on Monday convicted two friends to a total of 12 month imprisonment in hard labour for stealing 10 pieces of roofing sheets.
Attah Kwasi, 30, and Kwasi Osei, 27, were convicted on their own plea of guilty to stealing the items.
Police Chief Inspector Ben Brew, prosecuting, told the court presided over by Miss Edem Kokuvie-Tay that the complainant, Enoch Larbi and the convict live at Amanase near Suhum.
He said on May 10, this year, the complainant locked his door and left for town and Attah Kwasi who stays near the complainant's house took advantage of his absence from the house, broke the door and stole 10 pieces of roofing sheets he had kept under his bed.
The Prosecutor said Attah Kwasi later contacted Kwasi Osei who agreed to sell the items.
He said Kwasi Osei sold the items to his mother at the cost of GH¢ 36.00
The prosecutor said when the complainant later returned from town and detected the theft, he conducted his own investigation; and had information that the convict stole the items.
He therefore made a report to the police and they were arrested and charged with the offence.
