The body suspected to be that of Sri Lankan Tamil Tiger rebel leader Vellupillai Prabhakaran's son Charles Anthony and the bodies of three other senior rebel leaders have been found in the northern battleground, defense officials said Monday.
Officials from the Ministry of Defense said the body of Anthony was found Monday morning after an unsuccessful and half-hearted attempt by the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) cadres to evacuate him in the Karayamullavaikkal area of the Mullaittivu district.
Meanwhile, the bodies of three key LTTE leaders identified as Nadeshan, Pulidevan and Ramesh were also found during the mop operations in the last LTTE foothold in the same district.
The officials said the remaining LTTE cadres are now boxed into a 100m x 100m area North of Vellamullivaikkal in Mullaittivu.
