The Effutu Municipal/Awutu District branch of the Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT) has held its Third Quadrennial District Delegates Conference in Winneba where new executive members were elected for a four-year term.
Mr Paul Ekpale was elected as chairman with Mr Kenneth Koomson as the vice chairman. Also elected were Miss Philippa Larsen, treasurer and Mr Salia Issahaku, trustee.
Addressing the delegates Mr Kow Anyanful, a retired District Director of Education, appealed to teachers' unions to use school holidays to organise refresher courses for teachers.
The Effutu Municipal Director of Education, Mr Kwadwo Afful, appealed to teachers to give off their best and promised to rejuvenate the Study Circle Programme where teachers learn in groups.
The District GNAT Secretary, Miss Lily Otoo, said the association has acquired eight plots of land at Gyahadze to build offices and a hostel.
