A Sunyani circuit court has remanded two armed robbers who snatched a taxi cab from its driver at a village near Yamfo in the Tano North District of Brong Ahafo Region.
They were charged with conspiracy to rob and robbery and they pleaded not guilty and they will reappear on April 30. Also on remand is a third accomplice who was charged with dishonestly receiving.
They accused persons are Kofi Ahinsan, 26, Anthony Aabiesie, 29, and Kofi Boakye, 29.
The prosecutor said on March 18, Mr Ebenezer Kwame Kyere, 23, was on his usual rounds in Sunyani when Ahinkan and Aabiesie chartered him to a village beyond Yamfo.
After exiting the outskirt of Yamfo, the first accused ordered the driver to stop whereby the second accused slapped him on the face and pointed a locally-manufactured pistol at him.
Mr Kyere was forcibly pulled out of the vehicle and Ahinkan took control of it and sped off towards the direction of Kumasi and eventually left it in the custody of Aabiesie in Accra to repair some faulty parts and sell it afterwards.
The prosecutor said two weeks later Ahinkan arranged with Boakye, then at Asokore who followed up to Accra and bought the vehicle at GHC 2,000.00 but made part payment of GHC 1400.00, leaving a balance of GHC 600.00.
The vehicle was taken to Asokore and upon a tip off police in Effiduase arrested Ahinkan with it.
When Boakye had information about the arrest he rushed to Accra and assisted the Keneshie police to apprehend the culprits.
