Ahaji Adam Yakubu Imoro Ayaana, a Tamale based philanthropist, has organised organized a 16- kilometre peace and health walk in Tamale on Independence Day to promote peace in the area.
The walk was also to instil in Ghanaians patriotism to ensure that they tolerate each other's views for a lasting peace in the country.
Alhaji Ayaana, who was a victim of the recent clashes in Tamale and had his property burnt, later presented a peace message to Mr. Stephen Nayina, Northern Regional Minister, at the Jubilee Park after the walk.
He congratulated the Minister on his appointment and noted that peace was an essential commodity that must be safeguarded to promote unity and national development.
Alhaji Ayaana described as disheartening and unfortunate violence that welcomed the minister into the region and appealed for peace and unity.
He appealed to the minister to use his experience and administration to seek lasting peace in the region.
Alhaji Ayaana said he had embarked on peace walks in Nigeria, Libya and Saudi Arabia and walked from Chicago to New York in 2001 after the September 11 bombings in USA.
