Ibrahim Jallow, a herdsman, was on Monday convicted on his own plea of guilty to 12 months imprisonment in hard labour by the Kade Magistrate Court for escaping from lawful custody.
Police Inspector Eric Tetteh Zorh, prosecuting, told the court that on November 16 last year, Jallow was arrested and detained in connection with the theft of three cows.
He said Jallow was later released from the cells and taken to the district Criminal Investigation Department (CID) office for interrogation, where he managed to escape.
All efforts made by the police to get Jallow re-arrested proved unsuccessful until December 30 last year, when he was arrested by a police team at Abodom.
