The Ghana Road Transport Co-ordinating Council (GRTCC) has released details of new road transport fares to reflect the reduction in the price of fuel.
A statement signed by Mr Matthew Hayford, Chairman of the GRTCC, said the new fares covered intra-city (trotro), inter-city (long distance) and taxi cabs and Peugeot caravans.
The new fares took effect from Monday.
It asked road transport organizations to post the new fares at their lorry parks and loading terminals.
According to the statement, trotro fares that were between 15 Ghana Pesewas and 20 Ghana pesewas remained unchanged, while fares above 20 Ghana pesewas go down by five Ghana pesewas.
In the case of long distance vehicles, the fares go down between 10 Ghana pesewas, where it was 90 pesewas and GH¢2.35 where they were GH¢ 23.70.
For taxi cabs and Peugeot cars, the fares drop by five Ghana pesewas for the first kilometre or part thereof to 10 Ghana pesewas at 40.5 kilometres or part thereof.
