The Government of Ireland has donated another 50,000 euros to the Committee on Missing Persons in Cyprus (CMP), bringing the Irish financial assistance to a total of 150,000 euros over the past two years, the CMP announced on Thursday.
"This renewed donation to the CMP Project on the exhumation, identification and return of remains of missing persons in Cyprus would contribute to the committee's goal of identifying and returning as many remains of missing individuals as possible," the committee said in a press release.
The remains of over 465 missing Greek and Turkish Cypriots been exhumed so far while 108 have been identified and returned to their families. They were victims of the inter-communal clashes and military conflicts which led to the division of the eastern Mediterranean island.
Germany has also donated 100,000 euros to the project earlier this month, which was followed by Spain with another 50,000 euros.
