The Asikuma-Odoben-Brakwa District Assembly has recorded an improvement in its internal revenue generation this year, the District Chief Executive (DCE), Mr Emmanuel Adjei Domson had said.
Mr Domson said this at the second ordinary meeting of the Assembly held at Breman Asikuma on Monday.
He said at the end of August this year, the assembly was able to collect GH¢ 68,109.88, representing 80.39 per cent of the targeted revenue of GH¢ ¢84,725.00 for the year.
The DCE gave the assurance that with the improvement in the revenue generation, the assembly would be able exceed its revenue for the year.
"Management of the Assembly is working with a private consultant to build a revenue database on software for the Assembly", he said.
He said the data would capture tax-payers at Breman Asikuma and is environ.
Mr Domson said the Asikuma-Beedum and Baako-Anhwiam roads have been awarded on contract for tarring, and that, work is expected to commence in October and completed by June, 2009.
He said under the European Union 6th Micro Project, five communities in the district have been selected to benefit in the phase two project programmes.
The projects include the construction of teacher's quarters at Amanfopong, a 16 seater vault chamber toilet each at Baako, Kontanase and Beedum, and the construction of two culverts on the Adumanu-Ohiahyeda road.
The DCE urged the assemblies of the beneficiary communities to educate and encourage their people to participate fully in the implementation of the project.
Meanwhile the Assembly has expressed its concern about some deduction made in their common fund by the Common fund Administrator's Office.
According to the Assembly, their common fund for the second quarter 2008, was supposed to be GH¢237,000.00, but was reduced to GH¢ 36,000.00.
The Assembly said the deduction be discontinued, to enable it to function properly, adding that, "the instant deductions have thrown its supplementary budget for 2008 out of gear".
The Presiding Member, Nana Kweku Adu-Twum II, urged the members to continue educating their electorates, especially the youth, against violence during political campaigns, which could destroy the peace the country was enjoying.
He advised religious leaders to sensitize their congregation on the need to live in peace and avoid disunity.
