An Akim Oda magistrate's court remanded a 38-year-old accountant in police custody for a second time for possessing fake currencies when the accused reappeared before it on Friday.
Emmanuel Koomson first was first remanded when he appeared before the court the previous day. The court, presided over by Mr. Albert Owusu Annor, did not take his plea.
He will reappear in court on August 28.
Koomson is an Assistant Accountant at the Akim Mansah (rpt Akim Mansah) Rural Bank at Akokoaso in the Eastern Region.
He was arrested after fake 110 South African Rand and 10 Namibian dollars, in addition to fake Ghana cedi notes, were found under his bed.
The accused denied ownership of the fake currencies and suggested that they were placed under his bed by a kente seller who had visited him.
The court heard that police personnel from the Akim Oda Divisional Command retrieved the notes upon a tip-off that the accused intended to be put them in circulation.
