A 31-year old Togolese national, Robert Issaka, alias Robert Ebenezer, a porter at Saltpond, was on Wednesday sentenced to five years' imprisonment by a Circuit Court in Cape Coast for stealing two car bonnets valued at GH¢ 250.
Issaka an ex-convict, pleaded guilty.
The case for the prosecution was that on June 11 this year, the complainant, who is a welder at Mankessim detected that two car bonnets for a Toyota Corolla and Nissan Sunny vehicles, had been stolen from his shop.
He said the complainant therefore went in search for them and found them with Issaka by the roadside and raised the alarm but he took to his heels
and was given a chase, and when he realized that those pursuing him were closing in on him, he pulled out a dagger and threatened to stab anybody who dared to arrest him, but was overpowered and sent to the police station.
