Mr James Gunu, the Volta Regional Minister, has called on media practitioners to uphold professionalism by ensuring accuracy, fairness, and balance in their reportage.
He warned that biased reporting could have far-reaching negative consequences for society, including the potential to fuel communal tensions, deepen divisions, and perpetuate stereotypes.

Mr Gunu made the call at the inauguration of Aluta FM 107.7MHZ at Nkonya Wurupong in the Biakoye District.
He noted that the media played a critical role in shaping public opinion and influencing national discourse and must remain committed to truthful and responsible journalism.

“The media has a significant influence on public opinion and must adhere to the highest standards of professionalism and ethical journalism,” he added.
Mr Gunu urged journalists and media practitioners to continually upgrade their skills and knowledge to meet the evolving demands of the media industry.
Jean-Marie Formadi, Member of Parliament (MP) of the Biakoye Constituency, underscored the importance of information and education in driving development.
She called on the media to play a more proactive role in promoting education and raising awareness on key issues such as health, agriculture, and governance.
Madam Formadi noted that access to accurate and timely information was crucial for the growth and development of any community and commended the station for its commitment to promoting local content and amplifying the voices of marginalized communities.

She urged management of the station to ensure that its programming remained inclusive and responsive to the needs of all segments of society.
The inauguration of the station is expected to enhance community engagement and public awareness on key issues affecting residents of the constituency by providing a platform for local voices and perspectives.
