The arrest occurred at the Kantanso Asankare Police Barrier during a routine check on December, 26, 2025.

The suspects were travelling in a Kia Granbird bus with registration number GT 5771 18 from Accra to Walewale, with Paga as the final destination.

They were identified as Mr Kwame Afram, a bus driver, and Mr Godfred Essel, his mate.

A search of the bus uncovered two concealed containers holding the ammunition.

Police also retrieved two bulletproof plates, one black crushed helmet and a pair of long boots hidden under the driver’s seat.

Mr Afram and Mr Essel are currently in police custody, assisting with investigations.

The bus and all retrieved items have been impounded.

In its statement issued on December 31, 2025, the police did not disclose details on the destination and intended use of the seized ammunition.
