Responding to the European Parliament's rubber-stamping of the second one-year postponement of the EUDR to December 30, 2026, Isabel Fernandez, Senior Consultant at Mighty Earth said:
"The clock has paused again on the EUDR, but the commitment to ending deforestation in global commodity supply chains must not."
"EUDR enforcement is necessary and inevitable, even with another 12-month postponement. As we are witnessing in tragic events across the world with landslides and flooding, we need standing forests to protect people and wildlife from the worst effects of our changing climate."
"The EU must use this second delay to build back better and ensure a robust and strong law is ready to go at the end of next year. Ending deforestation is critical to avoiding further catastrophic disasters. The world cannot afford any more delays."
