Mr Haruna Iddrisu, the Minister of Education, has announced plans to constitute a technical team to undertake a comprehensive review of the Computerized School Placement System (CSSPS). The initiative is to ensure greater efficiency, transparency, and fairness in the placement of students into second-cycle institutions across the country.
This was in a statement from the Ministry’s communication unit issued to the Ghana News Agency in Accra. The Minister announced this during a surprise working visit to Presbyterian Senior High School in Accra.
The Minister emphasized that the forthcoming review of the CSSPS would engage key stakeholders, including education managers and representatives of parents and students.
The move is to ensure that the placement system continues to serve the best interests of all Ghanaian students. Mr Iddrisu interacted with the students, teachers, and management of the school to gain firsthand insight into the conditions of teaching and learning, infrastructure, and general preparedness for the academic term.
He commended the staff for their dedication to duty and reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to improving educational infrastructure, teaching resources, and administrative systems that enhance equitable access to quality education.
The Ministry of Education has extended its best wishes to the first-year Senior High School (SHS) students who are reporting to their various schools. About 590,000 of the students nationwide reported to school from Saturday, October 18, to Monday, October 20, 2025, to begin the 2025/2026 academic year.
