The Manhyia Palace has banned the organisation of all funerals in Asanteman on August 21, 2025.
The decision is to pave the way for the one-week observation of the passing of the Asantehemaa, Nana Konadu Yiadom III.
This was announced in a statement issued by the palace today and signed by the Deputy Chief of Staff, Ambassador Nana Effah-Apenteng.
On Monday, August 11, 2025, the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, officially announced the passing of the Asantehemaa, Nana Konadu Yiadom III.
He made the announcement at an Asanteman Council meeting at the Manhyia Palace.
The one-week observance of the passing of Nana Konadu Yiadom III is scheduled for Thursday, August 21, 2025.
The 98-year-old Nana Konadu Yiadom III, who reigned for eight years, died on Thursday, August 7, 2025. She was born in 1927.
Nana Konadu Yiadom III, at the age of 90, succeeded Nana Afia Kobi Serwaa Ampem II in 2017.
She was the elder sister of Otumfuo Osei Tutu II and the daughter of Nana Afia Kobi Serwaa Ampem II, who passed away at age 109 on November 15, 2016, after reigning for 39 years as Asantehemaa.
