The Ghana National Education Campaign Coalition (GNECC) has launched the 2025 Global Action Week for Education in Bodada, Oti Region, on the theme: “Education in Emergencies: Leave No Learner Behind.”
The event brought together education stakeholders to highlight the need to safeguard learning during crises, emphasizing resilience and equity in education systems.
It underscored the importance of resilience and equity in education systems affected by conflict, displacement, health emergencies and climate related disasters.
Distinguished attendees included the representative of Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of Jasikan, the Municipal Education Director of Jasikan, Sophia Ako, Representative for the member of parliament (MP), Representative for Oti Regional Minister and was chaired by Madam Jacquelinda Attabra, Oti Regional Director of Education.
The GNECC is leading this nationwide call to action to address the growing risks that emergencies such as conflict, displacement, health crises and climate related disasters pose to learners across the country.
The campaign emphasizes resilience, equity and long-term solutions to ensure no child is left behind.
The launched in Bodada of the Oti Region marks the beginning of a week of national activities, dialogues and grassroots engagements aimed at strengthening Ghana’s response to education during emergencies.
Mr. Festus Longmatey, Head of programs of GNECC, who launched the week, called for concerted efforts by all to augment the government’s commitment to strengthening the structures for transformative education in the country.
Mr. Prosper Ottu, Senior Prefect of Presbyterian Senior High School (PRESSEC- Bodada) in a statement called for a safer environment, enlightenment and development through education.
He said in strengthening the structures for transformative education and to improve gender access to inclusive education, there was the need for provision of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) tools in the school, construction of accommodation for boys and girls, master’s bungalows, provision of computers, provision of desks, provision of learning materials among others.
“We the students in Bodada in the Oti Region, are calling on education stakeholders to come to our aid to particularly support our school with infrastructures,” Mr. Ottu said
