Recycle Up! Ghana ( RUG), a leading climate-focused non-profit, marked its 10th Anniversary Summit with the historic launch of its Waste Management
Educational Handbook at the ISSER Conference Facility, University of Ghana, on December 17, 2024.
The handbook, described as a culmination of RUG’s decade-long commitment to empowering young Ghanaians through environmental education, serves as a comprehensive guide to waste reduction, recycling, and sustainability practices.
Targeted at basic and high schools, it equips students, educators, and community leaders with practical tools to foster a waste-free Ghana.
Speaking at the launch, Abdulrahim Shaibu-Issah, Executive Director of RUG, emphasized the significance of the handbook: “This handbook is more than just a resource; it is RUG’s gift to Ghana. It reflects our decade of impactful work and is a guide for the next generation of environmental leaders to tackle waste challenges head-on.”
The 10th Anniversary Summit, themed “Journey Towards Sustainability: Reflecting and Celebrating 10 Years of Progress!”, brought together key stakeholders, including climate entrepreneurs, policymakers, and environmental advocates.
The event featured keynote speeches, panel discussions, startup pitch presentations, and exhibitions.
The handbook was unveiled as part of RUG’s ongoing efforts to promote a circular economy and environmental stewardship.
Guests praised the initiative for its potential to revolutionize waste education in Ghana and beyond.
The launch signifies a new chapter for RUG as the organization looks forward to expanding its reach and impact under its rebranded identity, RUG: Empower, Innovate, Sustain.
