The La Nkwantanang Madina Municipal Assembly has inaugurated a newly constructed District Police Headquarters at Ayi Mensah in Accra.
The edifice, with air-conditioners in all offices, has a reception, four washrooms, eight offices and an ultra-modern conference room.
Madam Jennifer Dede Adjabeng, La-Nkwantanang Madina Municipal Chief Executive, in an address said the provision of the offices was to promote smooth police operation and administration in the area to help curb all acts of lawlessness and criminality.
She emphasized the importance of peace and security in a democratic society to ensure that citizens go about their daily routines without any impediments.
Madam Adjabeng urged all citizens to have faith in the Police by acquitting themselves well particularly in the impending elections.
She said: "As Chairman of the Municipal Security Committee, I will ensure that the impending elections are peaceful," adding that persons who misconducts themselves would be deal with by the law.
"Let's try and avoid all forms of electoral malpractices because the law would not spare us if we do so."
The MCE appealed to the people to vote massively for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) presidential candidate, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia to enable him to win the election to implement his transformative ideas.
She called on the constituents to also vote for the parliamentary candidate for the area, Mr. Robert Lamptey, who according to her, was already delivering the goodies even before aspiring for the position.
ASP Francis Zoya, the District Police Commander for Ayi Mensah, said the provision of the facility has come at the opportune time to decongest the previous offices for smooth police administration in the area.
He gave assurance of his outfit's commitment to providing security in the impending elections and impressed on citizens for full cooperation.
Nii Afutu Brempong, the Chief of Danfa, commended the MCE and the Assembly for the various developmental initiatives in the area over the period.
He cautioned the youth not to allow themselves to be used as conduits for violence and destruction in the impending elections, adding that they would not be spared by the law if they did so.
Nii Brempong urged all citizens to make peace a priority in this election since peace was a priceless commodity which should not be toyed with.
He gave the assurance that the chiefs would continue to cooperate with all stakeholders to ensure peace in the area.
