A total of 75 Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) in the Assin South District have secured numerous items and cash from the disability fund, demonstrating government's commitment to social welfare and inclusivity.
The items included fufu machines, spraying machines, industrial sewing machines, vegetable grinding machines, hair dressing accessories and electronic car spraying machines.
The rest are gas oven, embroidery machine, shoe grinding machine, chest freezers, wheelchairs, walker, startup capitals and educational scholarships.
Presenting the items to the PWDs, Mrs Felicia Ntrikwah Amissah, Assin South District Chief Executive (DCE) said the disability fund was to empower PWDs to be self-dependent.
She noted that the District Assembly in compliance with the laid down procedures, had satisfied the conditions and presented what the PWD's individually requested for throughout the year.
The DCE cautioned against selling the items, as perpetrators would be dealt with, urging them to put them to effective use to improve upon their living conditions and that of their immediate families.
Some beneficiaries expressed gratitude to the Assembly for the support, citing the positive impact it would have on their daily lives.
Mr Kwasi Agyekum, a beneficiary, said the wheelchair would enable him to move round easily to participate in community activities.
