During a visit by Citi News to various schools in the region, headteachers confirmed that teaching and learning were progressing smoothly, with students, particularly those in junior high and primary schools, actively preparing for exams and the upcoming vacation.
Although some headteachers noted lower student attendance as schools reopened post-strike, they emphasized that the overall academic environment was back to normal.
Meanwhile, the Ashanti Regional Secretary for NAGRAT, Atindaana Baba Joseph, in an interview with Citi News assured of a backup plan in case the teachers’ concerns are not adequately addressed following negotiations with the National Labour Commission.
He commended the teachers for their compliance with the strike directive and remained hopeful that their grievances would be resolved.
Mr. Atindaana emphasized the importance of sincerity in negotiations, stating, “We cannot pre-empt what will happen tomorrow. Because once we are calling off the strike in good faith, we hope they also keep their promises with us in good faith and make sure they give us what we have asked for and give us a good roadmap to achieve those activities.”
