The Ghana’s Honorary Consul in Beirut, Lebanon, Mr Ali Samih Jaafar, yesterday donated two state-of-the-art passport printers to the Passport Head Office in Accra to complement existing printers and enhance passport issuance process.
Each printer ‘the Identifier 60 Novus passport printers’ has a capacity of printing 1,000 passports per hour, the two printers would together produce 2,000 passports per hour.
Mr Jaafar said the advanced printers were equipped with cutting-edge features to enhance efficiency of the passport issuance process, thereby contributing to reducing waiting times for applicants, ensuring a seamless experience for those seeking to embark on journeys beyond borders.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, Ms Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey, who received the items said it would help to ensure that the office do not return to a buildup of a backlog.
“This is an important donation because as many of you will recall in recent months, we have faced challenges with the printing of passport applications drawing ire of the Ghanaian traveller who have had to wait for long periods to receive their passports. The donation of these two printers will undoubtedly play a pivotal role in improving service delivery at the Passport Office, she added.
