An ultra-modern Emergency and Trauma Centre for the Yendi Government Hospital in the Northern Region was on Thursday inaugurated to serve not only the people of Yendi but also the entire Eastern Corridor.
It was constructed by Global Missions and Mission 3:18, a Chicago-based charity in the United States in collaboration with the Office of the Member of Parliament (MP) for Yendi, Alhaji Farouk Aliu Mahama.
Speaking at the inaugural ceremony, Alhaji said the facility was one of his promises fulfilled as MP for the area, adding that the immediate beneficiaries would be the people of Saboba, Chereponi, Gusheigu Zabzugu, Tatale, Akpandai, Bimbilla, Mion, Karaga and Wulensi.
He said he was committed to working with all development-oriented entities, non-governmental organisations and other benevolent organisations to realise the New Yendi City Agenda.
He expressed his happiness to the Global Missions and Mission 3:18 and all stakeholders for their kindness and generous contribution towards the construction of the Emergency and Trauma Centre in the Yendi Government Hospital.
The Northern Regional Deputy Director of Administration of the Ghana Health Service, Mr Jeremiah Tiimob, said Ghana’s roadmap to Universal Health Coverage (UHC) had part of its objectives to increase access to responsive clinical and public health emergency services.
He stated that the objective was to be achieved through the availability of improved infrastructure, logistics and supplies for emergency care.
