But Mr Williams said with the greater portion of work done, what was left now was the construction of a road network to the Games Village which is being worked on.
He indicated that work done so far involved 9.40 kilometre of 600 millimetres of covered concrete drainage systems, 1,200mm of concrete pipe culverts with total completion of all earth works adding “76 per cent of all drainage works have been completed.”
The Director of the Department of Urban Roads, Mr Gottfried who also briefed the Minister said they were engaging the Minister of Food and Agriculture to relocate its animals at the Animal Husbandry establishment to avoid the nuisance caused to the animals by the noise and dust from the earth moving equipment.
He said about 50 per cent of utilities had been relocated and expressed optimism that the rest of the work would be addressed in the coming weeks.
Mr Amoako-Atta satisfied with the progress of work commended the contractor for engaging the staff during the Christmas and New Year period to ensure the early completion of work.
According to him, the Ministry would forever remain grateful and was ever ready to support any local contractor whose vision translated into government’s agenda of transforming the road sector into one of the most enviable on the continent.
He expressed the government’s commitment towards continuing with all ongoing projects to eradicating constraints to socioeconomic development.
Mr Amoako-Atta said they had been charged with the responsibility of ensuring all roads were tarred to promote development, hence would not rest until the President’s vision for the road sector was fulfilled.
“The government would continue to support local contractors who excel in order to ensure the citizenry have value for money in any project awarded by the government,” he stressed.
