The Acting President of Awutu Traditional Council, Nai Ncharkey Okine VII, has appealed to the authorities to rehabilitate the town road network of Awutu Beraku, the traditional capital of the people of Awutu before the celebration of the annual Awubia Festival this year.
He urged the Member of Parliament for Awutu Senya East, Mavis Hawa Koomson and the DCE of the area to team up and lobby to get the roads rehabilitated.
Nai Ncharkey Okine who was speaking to the media yesterday, also noted that there was the urgent need to give a facelift to the durbar ground before the ceremony which is expected to have the President as the Special Guest of Honour.
Asked why the chiefs waited for a long time before calling for a facelift of the roads, Nai Ncharkey noted that they started complaining about the poor state of the road network long ago but the authorities did not do anything about the complaints.
The Acting President further made an appeal to the people to comport themselves and avoid any violent acts during the upcoming festival.
To prevent any form of indiscipline during the festival, Nai Ncharkey said that the traditional area was collaborating with the Police Commander of the Area to get the Police and the Neighbourhood Watchdog Committee to provide effective security during the festival.
She lauded the MP for Awutu Senya East, Ms Koomson, who doubles as a Minister, for building a new durbar grounds at Awutu Ofaakor, stressing that since Awutu Beraku is the traditional and administrative capital of the Awutu, there was the need for new durbar grounds.
