The donation, the first for the year 2022, is aimed at supporting women who have survived breast cancer to regain their confidence.

The donation was made by musician Stephanie Benson on behalf of the Director of Pink for Africa, Mrs Juliette Mills-Lutterodt.

Presenting the donation, she expressed confidence that the items would go a long way to make women who had gone through a single or double mastectomy “to feel like women again.”

Stephanie Benson, who is also a breast cancer survivor, encouraged the women present to embrace their bodies, stay strong and heed their doctor’s advice.

“I know it’s not easy, especially on the financial side but you need to stay strong,” she said.

Receiving the items on behalf of the survivors, the Senior Nursing Officer of the Surgical Oncology Unit, Mrs Augusta Gyening, expressed appreciation to Pink for Africa.

She also noted that the support would boost the self-image of survivors.

A breast cancer survivor, Mrs Mercy Amanor-Boadu, expressed her joy at the donation.

She narrated how she was diagnosed of breast cancer in the latter part of 2021 and had to go through a double mastectomy in February this year.

“I am really happy about today’s presentation and the education on reconstructive surgery.

“I was surprised and scared at first when I was diagnosed with breast cancer because I regularly do breast cancer screening. But I’m ok now because at least it did not spread to other parts of my body,” she said.
